SS News Illinois Constution Test

This is a letter your 7th grader recieved from Mrs. Render.

Just in case you didn't get to see this letter. 

This year your seventh grade student will be taking the Illinois Constitution Test.  It is required that your student pass the test before entering high school.  With this in mind, I will give each student three opportunities to pass the exam.  The first attempt will count as a test grade for the second quarter.  If needed the other two attempts will be counted as a pass/fail.

Over the next few weeks, we will be discussing the history and government of Illinois.  During our study students will be completing study guides adn taking quizzes in class to help prepare them for the test.  Please remind your student to bring home materials and review in the information learned in class. 

The Illinois test is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, November 22, 2011.

Science Test Study Guide Test is Thursday September 15th

Test is Thursday September 15th.

Know these terms.  The best way is to remember one word from the definition.

Hemeostasis - keeping of an organism internal, life-maintaining conditions

control - standard for comparison in an experiment

cell - smallest unit of a living thing that can perform life functions

biogenesis - living things come from other living things

phylogeny - species evoluntionary history

variable - factors that change in an experiment

theory - explanation that is supported by results from repeated experiments

spontaneous generation - living things come from nonliving things

hypothesis - educated guess


The number of variables you can test in an experiment is 1.

Control is the word that is used for comparison in an experiment.

Many-celled organisms grow due to an increase in number of cells.

If you don't know the scientific name of an organism it is best to use a dichotomous key to find its name.

Scientific names consists of genus and species

Th first name in the scientific name is Genus


The scientific method is best remembered by using this memory aide  SGHEADS
