Study guide for Test February 9th

Study guide Test has been changed to Thursday, February 9th.
Iceland
Capital of Iceland is Reykjavik.
Iceland uses geysers for heat.

Ireland
The capital of Ireland is Dublin.
Ireland’s official languages are English and Gaelic.
Ireland burns peat for fuel.
Ireland’s culture has been strongly influenced by the country of England.
Ireland once had an agricultural economy, but today is has an industrial economy.

United Kingdom
The capital of the United Kingdom is London.
From 1800 until 1921, the United Kingdom contained England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
The Industrial Revolution began in the United Kingdom.
The decline of the British Empire was caused by the colonies separation, World War I and II and foreign competition.
British Empire controlled nearly 1/4th of the world’s land.
The United Kingdom and Norway get oil and natural gas from the North Sea.

Scandinavia
Every country in Scandinavia has democratic government.
Majority of the people in Scandinavia are members of the Protestant (Lutheran) church.
Northern Europe
The North Sea and Baltic Sea are important for the economies of Northern Europe.
Rich soils and coniferous forests are natural resources of northern Europe.
The mail climate of Northern Europe is Marine West Coast.

Greenland is a territory of Denmark, is the largest island on the earth and is populated by the Inuit (Eskimos).
Europe’s Northwest Highlands includes the Kjolen Mountains, Great Britain’s highlands and the rolling hills of Ireland.
Lapland is not a country.
